On October 7, 2026, a customized NKL Adjustable Fully Automatic EPS Block Molding Machine was successfully commissioned and put into production at KOOLFOAM in New Zealand. NKL engineers provided on-site technical support and guidance throughout installation, commissioning and production start-up, helping ensure the machine entered stable production smoothly.

Designed around KOOLFOAM’s production requirements, the new machine combines adjustable mould length, vacuum-assisted production, intelligent pressure monitoring and fully automatic high-speed operation.

Adjustable Mould Length with Vacuum System

One of the key features of the machine is its adjustable mould cavity length, allowing KOOLFOAM to produce EPS blocks of different lengths according to production and cutting requirements. This provides greater production flexibility while helping reduce unnecessary material waste.

Intelligent Pressure Sensor Control

Pressure sensors are integrated into the block molding machine to monitor pressure during the molding process, including the expansion pressure of the EPS material inside the mould cavity. Real-time pressure feedback enables the control system to optimize the molding and cooling cycle, helping achieve more consistent block quality while shortening cooling time.

Fully Automatic High-Speed Production

The machine automatically performs the complete production cycle, including mould closing, material filling, steaming, cooling, mould opening and block ejection.

During commissioning at KOOLFOAM, an EPS block measuring approximately 2.5 m × 1.2 m × 0.83 m, at a density of 17 kg/m³, completed the entire cycle from mould closing and filling to mould opening and block discharge in only 250 seconds. This combination of automation and short cycle time enables higher production efficiency while reducing manual operation.

Vertical Vacuum Tank Saves Factory Space

Unlike conventional EPS block molding machines that commonly use a horizontal vacuum tank, NKL adopted a vertical vacuum tank design for this project. The vertical configuration significantly reduces the floor area required by the vacuum system, making more efficient use of valuable factory space while maintaining stable vacuum performance.

From Customized Engineering to Successful Production

The successful commissioning at KOOLFOAM demonstrates NKL’s ability to develop EPS machinery around the actual production requirements of individual customers. From equipment design and manufacturing to installation, commissioning and production support, NKL continues to provide customers worldwide with complete EPS production solutions.
